2-story cage?

drykilllogic83 Jun 04, 2004 12:50 PM

I know a person on this forum has a 2-story cage but I forgot who. I remember your cage looked great and I want to copy it. I was wondering what the dimensions were of the cage? Is there any advice that you can give me? Also, is there anything that you wish you would have done but you didn't? Thanks a lot.

The guys name was Ciliatus, you could search for him if you want. His cage gave me a lot of ideas as well. I am in the purchasing phase for my tegu cage right now. I'll post pics within the month when I finish. I plan on building a 6Lx4Dx6H.

hi, i think you are talking about my tegu cage.
here is a recent pic of it.

there are 2 things i didnt plan from the start. one thing
is to place some support in for the middle ground (from the
bottom) and some support for the top of the cage, what is
necessary if you want to place some more glass-cages on
top of the tegu cage, like i do.
the other thing is, on the middle floor i left some place
towards the glass to have better air circulation, and i
only put a short board there to keep the ground substrate
on the upper floor, experience showed me, that the tegu
used the space between glass and middle floor, to make
stagediving instead of using the ramp to get to the lower
floor. i fixed that problem now.
i hope my english is good enough to understand what i mean.

ohh and thanks for the praise once more.

Your welcome, and your English is fine. I just picture the little guy diving instead of using the ramp. Lazy critters huh?!? I plan on making the second level floor flush to the glass, so I shouldn't have that problem.

I just want to say thanks for responding so quick. Also, your cage looks rad! I hope you don't mind if I copy your cage, because I am going to. thanks again!

hi, no problem at all, feel free to do so, its more like an honor for me, even though i didnt invent 2story cages

i had the idea after i saw a 2story made of glass in bert langerwerfs book.

one more note you might wish to make the wood waterproof by using epoxy.

i wish you much fun building your new tegu home, and post a pic for us, once you finished it.

greets

ingo
