hatchling pardalis eye problem!

zprops Jun 04, 2004 04:28 PM

hello everyone.
I have a pardalis with 3/4 weeks old that is very active, eats a lot of crickets and drosophila and is fat like a bull. He sheds often and is growing from day to day.
Yesterday i noticed that his left eye was shut. He remmained that way when stopped, but when moving or hunting he doesn´t shut him for a long time (2-3 hours or more). I looked closely to that eye and notticed that the pupil is a bit smaller than the other and the white part of the eye (really white, not red) can be seen at the top of the pupil. The eye doesn't have any more strange signal. When I springle him with hot bottled water, he starts to rub his eye and make the cleaning, and he tolerate more time with his eye open.

I hope you can help me with this. i´m portuguese, and here we don't have good reptile veterinarians.

Tks, Zprops.

He might have a peice of old shed under his eyelid. I would continue to spray him several times a day. What kind of plant do you have in there with him? I hope that it is something simple like this. Sometimes severe problems first start with the eye, but as long as it is just one eye always look for the obvious first. Out of curiousity, where did you get him?

I had the same problem, it was with another chameleon, not a panther, but I increased my spraying a couple more time a day and with warm water in the morn and after the next shed he was fine..
