cage temps for day night and warm side cool side

zapper Jun 04, 2004 06:53 PM

when you talk about a warm temp is the thermometer supposed to be near the bottom of the tank or top? I beleive day should be about 88 and night no lower than 70? BUT arent you supposed to offer a cooler side during the day incase they are too hot? if so what temp?

p.s. my air temp on the warm side is about 88 but the sand is a hot 101 degrees near the heating pad to about half way across. the geckos wont go near it. should it be shut off at night? BUT when I did that it went down to 70 on the warm side. I am so confused

The temps should be 90 hot side and 80 cool side, ALL THE TIME. DO NOT make a temp drop at night as your cage WILL drop around 5 degrees at night naturally. Do you have a thermostat? or a dimmer?

I have neither just a heat lamp and a night glo lamp and a heating pad. did you see what I wrote about my temp stats? are they ok? I only ask because both my leos tend to hang out in my rock cave and sit there day and night. not big wanderers. is it normal?I know I am full of questions but I am only a 3 day old gecko mom

why do you have 3 heat sources and no thermostat? you NEED a thermostat.

I have the heat pad on the right hand side of the 20 gallon tank and I have a day lamp. then at night is the heat pad and the night lamp only. my air temp is 88 good right? but the sand temp is 101. if I shut off the heat pad the airtemp was at 60 I was afraid they would get cold. what do you suggest and thanks for the help

i suggest you use a human heat pad or just a lamp.
