I have a creeping fig in one of my tanks that I never took out of the pot & has grown all over the glass & back wall. I want to get the pot out of the tank... can I just cut the vines off, or will it die without the roots?

It probably won't die without being attached to the original potted roots, if it is the creeping fig I'm thinking of and have. It has probably rooted along the way. If it is clinging to the sides and wherever it has climbed, it isn't going to die. Just look for small rootlets along its route of climbing. If they are there, it is established and doesn't need the original pot. I perpetrate a lot of beheading of my vivarium vining plants and have more trouble getting rid of overgrowth than worrying about losing them.
