maybe ingo can elaborate on Tokay tails. In my experience most Tokays I see have thin to medium tail thickness. My 2 female breeders have very thick tails while my males is medium. I have noticed my hatchlings and juvies beginning to show a thickness in their tails also. My best guess would be a healthy Tokay will store food supplies in their tail but I could be wrong, I've never seen any information on Tokays on this matter. heres a pic of each of my adult females to show their tails. These were taken last year and their tails are even bigger now.

Dakman is right, its just a fat reserve like many geckos. You dont see many healthy tokays in shops thats why not many tails are thick. A healthy and well fed tokay will have a medium sized tail. Nowhere near a leopard gecko ofcourse but it will still be bulkier than that. The gecko looks healthy it just needs to be fattened up a little bit.

I don't think so.. I was talking to Tokay_dude, and I was doing some research.. I've never seen a Tokay that dark - unless it was stressed. And I've NEveR seen one whose tail was SO thin. It can't be healthy if it's in that kind of condition.

And did anyone notice it's front feet? Or lack thereof?

Oooh yeah thats no good I just saw that. The coloration does darken with stress but the animal overall looks alert and ready to eat thats where I base my conclusion. Almost anything that is willing to eat can be brought up back to health.

OK - I get what you mean.

I just wish the seller (in that auction place that's forbidden) would fatten him up before selling him - or, if he has, that he'd show a photo of a healthy gecko, ya know?
