Tongue color?

Hey everyone,
I have a question about Eastern Garter (Thamnophis s. sirtalis) tongues. All the ones I have ever seen (dozens) have all had red and black tongues from what I have noticed. The most recent one I have found has a red and tan/brown tongue, is this normal? She has a normal pattern, is very tame and is approx. 2 years old.
