think of it that way. Many Exo Terra UTH pads that are unregulated....not hooked to a dimmer or rheostat or thermostat. Get about 135....you would want to regulate that down anyway. And even at 135 it isn't gonna melt plastic. A light bulb will melt it easily...but they are 400 something.

I use regular human heating pads under my large plastic boxes with no problems. In fact, I think they're ideal! Best thing about them is that they have that little setting switch which works as a perfect thermostat. I use the basic model made by Sunbeam.
