I did it finally but......

zapper Jun 05, 2004 04:11 PM

I have a warm air temp of 91.0 and a cool air temp of 81.0 but I am curious....is it ok if the sand in the tank on the warm side is 101.0? or is it too hot?

Thats still too hot the perfect warm temp is between 75 and 85 no hotter no colder.

when you take the temp it should be right on the sand and that should be between 85-90 on the warm side and cooler on the cool side....75 is much to cold for the warm side and remember to take your measurements of the warm side right on the sand

ok so if the temp should be 85-90 then like I said I did it lol. cool. now about the thermometer, I heard keep it right at the sand and I have heard to keep it 2 inches above the sand. eeeek I am so confused lol. btw, I mean pocketfullofire no disrespect but I dont think 75 is good on the warm side. maybe you mis typed? anyway I dont know maybe thats how you do it. either way thanks for the help both of you I do appreciate it

Of course the temperature has to be taken right on the surface of the sand. This is what comes in contact with your gecko.

I heard from someone on this site to do it 2" above sand I dont know I am new. also I know the geckos are in contact with the substrate BUT they also hang out on logs so I figured air temp mattered too thats why I asked

Yea i mess up typing sorry i was in a hurry to leave so i was typing fast. I ment to say between 75 and 80 on the cool side and between 85 and 90 on the warm side.
