Happy Birthday Pip! - A possible dwarf Colombian

Mike Greathouse Jun 05, 2004 06:44 PM

Some of you may remember a tiny boa that was part of an otherwise normal litter of commons that I produced last year.

Well, I'm happy to announce that today, Pip is 1 year old and is doing very well. He is now a whopping 15 1/2" long and is continuing to increase in girth - just not much in length.

At the time of his birth, he was a mere 7" long, while his littermates all ranged from 15" to 18" in length. By the age of 4 months he had grown to 10", and now at a year has settled in at 15 1/2".

The first picture (taken several months ago) shows Pip with one of his littermates.

The next two pictures were taken today (6/5/04).

I would love to hear from anyone who has a similar animal so that we can compare notes and possibly share a breeding project in the future.

Thanks,

Mike Greathouse

He has a male that was purchased at a local show. It has not grown much over the past year but eats rat pinkies weekly and has been vet checked with both blood and fecal work done. Vet says he's fine but he continues to not grow. Maybe I can get him to post a pic. The littel guy is coming up on his birthday and is only 90 grams.
