I asked about your eggbound females.

I don't know the name of the man and his sons but I saw the girl walking around with the hypo lav and I was so jealous. 100.00!!!!! I stopped her and told her how jealous I was. She said she'll breed it and come back with the babies in the future.
I wish I would have started on that side of the building first, I would have snatched him up!

But I have too many already to buy everything that is nice and catches my eye, I need to stick with the morphs I personally like the best and want to produce or I will be drowning in them here. Well actually I already am. Your amel aztec was awesome looking though.

I do have a little candy cane I bought from your table lat year. She is the coolest thing, so much red. She's not growing real fast, but I love her. (pic was taken when I first got her)

jyohe Jun 06, 2004 08:41 AM

I remember........

eggbounds are a pain.......yesterday...4 females laid....BIG eggs..none stuck.......2 second clutches so they were skinny..one was a well kept thin amel aztec...and one was a well kept thinner ghost to silver queen.....

....over fed and under bred snakes get them stuck.....

(especially with my small cages).....

as for that candycane.........soooooooooo.........YOU got it.......that is the best candy I ever had.....I should have kept it......but as you know....too many snakes...too few cages....

that thing was red....only one from that clutch.....and I forget which pair it was....LOL....miami hets from Pinello? or Thomas?.....did I tell you?......(so I can get more from myself)...

my thomas pair didn't even lay this year.......Pinello pair just one clutch so far..........

good luck.......see you soon.......

Yep, I'm the one! Actually you weren't there when I purchased it, someone was watching your table for you. I believe he was selling mice next to your display? So I don't know which of your pairs it came from. Absolutely stunning animal, thank you!!!

Do you have any idea what to expect from the Havre De Grace show? I was thinking about driving down for it but it's kind of a hike.

I was just curious what it was like? Sizewise? Should I expect to see many corns?

Thanks for any help,
Kevin

We drove about 4 hours round trip and were a little disappointed. We didn't buy any animals at the show. A set of probes for me, a snake hook and a critter keeper for one of the boys, and the other boy a knife. Corn snakes were few and far between. Guess it is just too early in the season. The place was jammed with people who I believe were there to see the "zoo" and were not snake folks at all. A lot of "ewwwws" and "get it away from me" could be heard. There were several tables where you could get your picture taken with their animal for $5/6 dollars. Oh, my. We were glad to return home.

JLHerp Jun 07, 2004 11:16 PM

Be glad you didn't buy animals. Not knocking all of the vendors, but several had no idea what they were selling...could not even answer the simple question, do your "insert animal name here" eat insects, live prey, or veggies? Took us two days to shop around and find vendors we "sort of" could trust... then got the baby iguanas home and they started dying off today... two dead already and two more on their way, not good for a batch of five. Anyway, was very disappointing.

PAsnake Jun 06, 2004 12:51 PM

I was there.

My first show and i was rather shy and was overwhelmed at all the snakes didn't do much talking. What did you/your stand look like i probably said hi as i looked at every stand with snakes at least 3 times those with small corns a few more till i decided on one. I first decided on a small Miami phase, but until i remembered the stand it was at it was gone.

I did manage to settle on a small male normal corn second clutch 03 he was pretty sure lol (size looks about right). Unknown parents/genetics the guy wasn't the breeder but a friend watching the stand. Snake has quite a variation from front to back which i really like. Almost tangerine looking parts up front and rather dark/dull colors in the back. Compared to my pet shop purchase a month or so ago which had to be put down due to impaction it had at purchase. My new snake is much more active when handled (just a little before purchase, and to put him into the tank when i got him home) and he felt very strong were as the DOA snake just sorta passed over my hands without actually holding on.

Horrible picture but shows color pretty good
i really need a new camera

Hi Wayne, that looks like a very pretty normal. Is this your first corn? Did you go to the show by yourself? My first time I went by myself. I was so excited, I probably had a big smile on my face the whole time. I've been to pretty many now, so I don't get THAT excited any more. haha.

Traci

Thanks for the comments.

Second corn, i got a really pretty creamsicle corn about five weeks ago that was a dead on arrival. She had an impaction from the pet store feeding her on repti bark and had to be euthanized, i noticed the lump when i bought her but thought it was just her last meal, turns out i was right in the worst way. So i read up more and found out about the show in Hamburg so i read up as much as i could in the three weeks before the show.

First show since i was a kid, when i was about eight my parents took me to some sort of outdoors show and there was one booth with snakes and i wanted a corn snake then because i really liked the colors, but wasn't allowed, my mom was afraid of them.

I almost didn't go due to car troubles i can't drive my car until it gets fixed Tuesday. My sister was going to take me then bailed the night before, but my dad surprised me and asked if i wanted to go and actually bought the snake for me as a gift, he said if it was up to him i would have had the one when i was 8, something i never knew till yesterday.

I went knowing i wanted either a normal, Okeetee, or Miami Phase, though i did see a few others especially a ghost and a snow i really liked. Of the other normals i saw the one i got had the most variation in the color from front to tail, with some of the orange background color in the front being very bright almost tangerine. I can't wait until it sheds to see what happens with the colors. I know now that this will not be my last snake i saw so many i really liked, but i am going to try to stick to corns for a while before getting anything more challenging.
