Guatemalan Hognose?! Need help in identifying

M n R-Reptile Jun 05, 2004 11:10 PM

I just picked up a 8 inch Hognose from a importer here in Miami. The snake is solid orange with purple saddles on it. It is very pretty but I cannot find any info on the latin name ot what the common name is. It came in as Heterodon sp.
Also what are these worth?
Thanks for any help
Mike

If it is a small hognose looking snake (under 16 inches), it is probably Ficimia publia, the Yucatan Hooknosed Snake. They are red/orange with darker blotches or bands and a slightly upturned rostral.
