My 5 year old brooks is worrying me

BOBAFETT Jun 06, 2004 01:12 AM

For the past few weeks, he has not eaten, or shown any interest in his food. He was eating fine, till i tried giving him a chick, he killed it, and tried to eat it, but couldnt figure out out to eat it. The next week, i tried a small rat, which is his usual meal. He tried eating it from the foot, but gave up. Now hes not very bright when it comes to eating. He drags it backwards around the cage*as if that would help*. Yet, all my other snakes, especially my younger brooks female, will smash the mouse into objects to cram it down her throat faster*typical king right?* well, hes not thin*i can hardly get my hands around him, and im a big guy* Well, i have him in a rubbermaid with just the rat in a dark room, and will leave him there till morning, if that wont work, what will? Could he be sick? or something, i am not sure what is up, maybe he thinks its time to mate? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Dan

It's normal for your male brooks to do this at this time of year. I have a few males that do the same thing. They will kill the prey but don't eat it. Don't worry he is just thinking of girls right now, he will come around in a few weeks.
