It's all very depending on the conditions in your house. How close to an air vent it is, how close to a window, how much airflow it's getting. There is no one right answer for everyone.
What you need to do is go buy a few different wattage bulbs, keep the reciept, try them all out and return the ones that don't work. That's the only way to be sure. This is what I've had to do anytime I've tried out new bulbs.
