Is it true that you have to soak your tortoise twice a week in water? If so...what is the purpose of this and how long do you have to soak it? THANKS

Soaking tortoises for a 10 minute period in lukewarm to warm water hydrates them and allows them to drink or replace vital fluids. You'll also notice that the tortoises tend to have bowel movements in the water, making cleanup very easy. Once a week is sufficient, though if you have the time, 2x would not hurt.
