Leopard Tort owner - How to move to another state 11 hours away

princesslisa88 Jun 06, 2004 08:42 AM

Hi,
I currently live in New York and have a leopard tort. I will be moving sometime in the near future to North Carolina. The trip will be approximately 11 hours long in the car. Anyone have any advice on how to do this with a Leopard Tort? He's fairly young and I am worried I will get him sick from the stress and not being able to keep proper temps. Anyone have any suggestions or has ever had to do this before?
Thanks!

Is there someone in NC you know that you can send it to ahead of time? (overnight express) Where at in NC. I currently live in NC now and compared to some others, it is a big state. The mtn. region is still using heat right now while the piedmont and coastal plain are using AC all day every day.

Hi,
I am going to be moving to Southern Pines, NC. It's about an hour south of Raleigh. The temps there are pretty warm... No heat needed. Where are you located? Do you think I can use heat packs to keep him warm in our travels?

I would think that heat packs would work. Or what about some of those temp regulators that i have seen advertised. I am a very new owner to torts so all of this is new to me as well. I think you will love Southern Pines-It is about an hour from Fayetteville where I grew up. I live on one of the barrier islands off of NC now so I am about 5 hours away from where you will be. Good luck-

Maybe some of the experts can weigh in on this
