Hello everyone,
In the summer of 2002 we purchased a pair of 100% Het. Genetic Stripes from Ralph Davis Reptiles. The male, a 2001 animal, was quite large and bred for us many times last season resulting in a nice number of 50% PH Striped babies. The female, a 2002 hatchling at the time we received her, never refused a meal in her first 18 months with us. We feed our growing projects twice weekly on small to medium sized meals. At the start of this past breeding season she weighed approximately 2200 grams at 18 months of age!
I was surprised to feel about 8-9 eggs inside of her when she was palpated before ovulation. She ended up laying 9 eggs, one of which was a slug. Upon further examination and candling I discovered that one of the remaining 8 eggs was empty, perhaps died during development. So 7 eggs entered the incubator. About 4 days after, one of the 7 started to sweat. I have been told in the past that eggs usually sweat due to the embryo being dead and the egg gives off moisture that the embryo can't use. Of course... I freaked out! That egg turned pretty colors about 3 days later. And then there were... SIX...
After about 50 more days... here are the fruits of our labor... 1.2 Genetic Stripes and along with them were 1.2 66% PH Genetic Stripes.
WHOOO HOOO!!!!

Well... they aren't perfect Stripes but they ARE Genetic Stripes nonetheless!!
I just wanted to post all of this because I greatly enjoy reading everyones' posts about their projects coming through for them! It is so rewarding to see your investment and hard work pay off...
I hope everyone is having as much fun as we are this season...
GOOD LUCK and THANKS!!
