Leopard Gecko behavior question

mach5speedy433 Jun 06, 2004 12:09 PM

Hello

I have two Leopard Geckos, both females. Burbank is a little over a year old and Charlize is around eight months. I bought Burbank is October and she has become very calm and always comes out of her hutt and stays out for long periods of time.

I have had Charlize since February and she is not as calm. She comes out but goes back into her hutt a lot.

They are in the same tank and I changed it around before putting Charlize in with Burbank. I handle them both and they are both calm when handled.

My question is, is there anyway to make Charlize more calm so that she comes out as much as Burbank does? A way to make her feel more comfortable? Where she wants to be out as much as Burbank and not in her hutt a majority of the time?

Please if anyone can help me, please do.

It could just be her personality.Try handing feeding her like putting your hand in the cage with the mealie in front of the hutt and slowly lure her out.Do that alot and she might think that when ever she goes out she will get fed so she will start to go out more.

There could also be dominancy issues. Are the two girls of comprable sizes? Since I think Burbank is older, she might also be bigger and bullying the other one. It could also be personality. One of my girls never goes into her hide and always wants to climb and smell me (really, she smells me.). I have other females that run away.

If its not personality, I'd lean towards size difference.

They're very close to the same size. Burbank is a slight bigger but barely.
