I just recieved a baby veiled about a week ago, I mist the tank three times a day,He has a dripper and have seen him drink from it. My question is it normal for him to be sitting around with his mouth open sometimes?? I look at him sometimes and he is just sitting there with his mouth open. I am new to Chams so i want to make sure he is ok. Is the setup ok, He has a fake plant in there and a Pothos plant also , I want to buy a fogger, will that keep humidity up,drape a wet towel on it sometimes any comments welcome.

Scott

I'm not as well versed on chams as I used to be, but I would check to see that my temps weren't to high. In the pic you three lights on him, seems a little excessive. I posted about your sav in the monitor forum, you might want to purchase a temp gun. Very valuable tool in setting up, and fine tuning your temps. Just my opinion, but I would check my temps on the cham. Goodluck, Clint

Hi Scott,

Chams gape to lower their temp - like dogs panting or people sweating. If he is eating and drinking then that is probably what he is doing. However, the suggestion about checking temps is important. If he is gaping a lot he may be having a difficult time cooling. Make sure he has a place to hide and get into shade. Live plants are better b/c they help with humidity - somewhat.

As for foggers there have been some recent discussions on them if you do a search.

Can't see the cham - how old is he? What are you feeding him and supplementing/gutload? Is one of those lights a UVB? That's a must. Make sure the lights aren't too close where he could burn himself. Does he have a name yet?
