BAD NEWS

Justin Stricklin Jun 06, 2004 03:54 PM

The queen snake died. I have no idea about why. It ate a pinky 2 days before. I had it in a large plastic box(like all my other snakes) I had a large bowl just plenty big enough for it to soak in. Paper towel substrate and a box with moist moss. I found it in the middle of the box I was keeping it in upside down. Maybe they were not ment to eat rodents and it did something to it. I kept it in my reptile shed and at the same temp as all of my other snakes. I did nothing different to it except a bigger bowl. It was not the moss that did it because I use that with a few little ringnecks and other ground snakes. I did freeze the body and as soon as I get it installed again I will take pics. I had a virus in my computer and can't get my camera installed again since we got rid of the virus.

Sorry to hear that Justin, but you found out what is common knowledge: queen snakes do not do well in captivity.
