I have a blackthroat... and as far as I know it is nearly impossible to sex a juvenile monitor... once it is an adult of 5' you can have an x-ray done to see id you can see to calcium deposits on the end of his tally wacker... if you can't see them it "might" be a female but even an X-Ray isn't fool proof... the owner of Sobek would know more than me... he has a 6' female

the only way i can tell mine is a male, is that he sometimes everts his hemipenes when defecating, or right after defacating. I guess it is going to be hit or miss for a while until i find what i want. The question still remains though does anyone know of a reputable breeder of this species that has some available.

I think its somewhat easy to tell albigs male from female at a few months old or less than a year for that matter. Male albigs have a different shaped head, a different shaped tail base completely, and a different midsection shape if they are not seriously obese. The eversion you see can be hemiclitori, or hemipenes, there is a difference if you know how to recognize them, yet both evert, both are teritorial, both will mount each other (mating or prison rape), and both grow very very large. Female have a wider midsection (chubbier shape), males have larger bulgier heads with thicker lower jaws more developed upper jaw muscles, males have BULGES(!!!) in their tail base not just bulges, on average males can get larger. Here is the tail base of a male and hemipenes of a male, females dont have the flowered end on their hemiclitori.

Dont try this at all unless you know what your doing, and have experience with it. This is a partial not full popping, the camera doesnt take pics fast enough.
