Leopard Growth Rates

lignelli Jun 06, 2004 06:45 PM

I have 2 Leopard tortoises that are 3 years old. The larger one is more friendly and open to be played with much more than the little one. They eat the same types of leafy greens and bermuda and timothy hay and the difference in size is very extreme. They are both very healthy and have perfect shells with no pyramiding. I soak them in a warm bath every day while I clean the enclosure out and leave them food. This is where they deficate and it keeps the enclosure clean. Just wondering if all this sounds normal. Growth rate, personality, etc. They are kept at proper temps also. Does all this sound good? Thanks

Hello,

I read your post and very interested in your leopard growth. I have found very little info on leopard growth. I have only been at this one year with my 17 month old leopard. Mine does have some pyramiding eventhough I have tried to do all the things right. He eats mostly timothy and orchard grasses with leafy plants tossed in for variety and 2 mazuri every couple days, calcium, D3, vitmines, UVB bulbs heat lamps etc. I do not however, bath him that often and wonder if this has something to do with his lumps. I have just figured that in the wild he would not get a bath that often. He does have a water dish that he can go in whenever he wants.

When I go him he was 5 months and 4.1 oz. today he is 17 months and 15.9 oz. I do not know if this is fast growth, medium or slow?

Do you keep track of your tort weights?

How much do you feed them daily, do you chop the grass up?

thanks for your help, Ben
