Help with shed?

Gabered May 13, 2003 09:26 PM

Hello,

I got a new Macklots python today. I noticed it was in shed and had a lot of loose skin. I soaked him in warm water for a while and most of his shed came off in big sheets... around his head a neck was sort of stuck on so I tried to peel away what I could after soaking a bit more. I have a couple questions:

Was this too truamatic to do for a snake that I just got home a few hours before?

Some skin stayed on around his head. Will he be able to get this off by himself? I felt it was stuck on to well and didn't want to stress him out even worse.

What do I do to help him or is this a case of better LESS than more?

Also is it possible to scratch the new skin? I saw a light spot as if a scale came off. Is this possible and if so will it heal/grow back?

Your best bet would be to set it up with the proper humidity and temps and just let it come off with it's next shed. Your proper husbandry will insure it return to glory. If it's not too much I'd just leave it alone.
