How does everyone Acheive the effect of a black background with a glass reflexion? Is camera flash involved and how is reflection avoided?

Ok that acheives the snakes "glass" reflection. But is the pictures taken in a dark room? Is a back drop used? Is a flash used as well? What positioning is used in producing such images? Im very detailed person as you cant tell with all of my questions. Detailed instuctions and diffrent techniques will be greatly appreciated.

for that one I used professional studio lights, with a black paper background and the room was dark for that one. I used a medium format camera and shot slide film (I am a photographer).

This picture was shot durning the day so it wasn't dark. This one was just plexiglass no backdrop (not needed depending on angle), I used a 35mm camera with on camera flash, and color negative film.

I also have another one (hiss on my snake collection page) that I used photoshop to create the reflection. I had ran out of film when I had it all set-up so I fixed a picture I had of her to match the rest.

So many different ways to get almost the same look. if you have more questions just yell.

I think you can get it at most plastic (industrial) supply stores. It isn't very cheap.
