Dune Geckos won't eat crickets......

icedearthgoddess Jun 07, 2004 12:24 AM

My geckos are not wanting to eat the crickets I put in there for them. I have tried medium, and pinhead. No place here offers small crickets. The medium seem too big and scare the geckos, and the pinheads are too fast and the geckos can't seem to catch them. They love meal worms, but they are so high in fat I hate to feed them those everyday. But they refuse to eat any crickets. What should I do next? Would dusting the meal worms make them any more healthy???

mealies are not high in fat and are just as good or better than crix when properly gutloaded. maybe your confusing them with wax worms which are nothing but fat. My Dunes eat mostly mealies also and every once in a while crix. Yore right too big of crix does scare them. I'm raising most my Leo's on only mealies also and their doing very well.

Alright. I was told that it was meal worms specifically that were high in fat. Who ever told me was mis-informed then themselves. Thanks for the help!
