Well the term "Best" is relative. I have had success keeping ball pythons up to 2200-2500 grams in 24x16x6 tubs (Matrix Rack), but felt that it was cramped for anything larger. Too much room volume such as the small vision cages and the animals don't seem to feed as regularly and it can be difficult to maintain temps if the ambient room temps are volatile. I now have all my ball pythons in custom made racks using Iris CB-70 tubs that are roughly 34x17x5.25 with a 1/4" gap. The water bowls are placed in the front with 3" heat tape 4" from the back on Helix thermostat set at 95F. Everything is eating and breeding better.
I have always had success with racks, but my original motivation is to provide my larger females more room. The CB-70 and its competitors offer a larger footprint and in the case of the Iris product, have greater stability with molded plastic ridges. I have several females that are 3kg and get very large when gravid so I like to make them comfortable. Especially after they eat a colossal rat
I think the sterilite tubs that are about 34" long, 16" wide, and 5.5" high are perfect. I've constructed a rack system with these tubs. There is a long vertical strip of 11" flex watt at one and along with a tight hide spot. The front of the rack has a hinged door with solar screening (gives them more security). I keep temps in high 80's at flex watt end and 80-82 at the front. These tubs are so long that there is a temp gradient wherein the middle of the tubs are at mid 80's.
I've seen that these tubs are normally carried at Target and sell for about $8 each.
