TAMPA TRIBUNE (Florida) 07 June 04 She Kills Snake, Wounds Herself
A Land O' Lakes woman shot herself in the hand Saturday evening while trying to kill a snake in her back yard.
Cindy Zirkler, 58, of 7124 Sandy Lane, injured her left index finger about 7:50 p.m. when she fired her .22-caliber rifle at the snake, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office said.
Zirkler told deputies the rifle's loading tube fell out as she aimed at the snake.
She tried to catch the tube as she pulled the trigger and was grazed by the bullet.
She reloaded the rifle and killed the snake before asking a neighbor for help, deputies said.
