Chuck420 Jun 07, 2004 11:44 AM

i read somewhere that corns will eat anoles...the store i work at has some for like 10$ and i get discounts so it would be cheap and i wanted to see if she would...but i also read that they can get parasites from it? i was gonna feed my king a baby garter but decided to let it go incase it was going to get him sick...i wanna try my corns on a different diet tho is there anything else corns or kings will eat? and if so what?...and is feeding anoles a good or bad idea?

Why do you want to feed your cornsnake anoles? It's true, feeding a wild caught animal to your snake risks introducing parasites and diseases. Bad idea.
All the best,

If you want to feed a varied diet, though I wouldn't recommend it (see below), you can try day old chicks or quail.

You can get these through www.rodentpro.com (I've never bought poultry from them but that's who I get all my rodents from)

I wouldn't recommend feeding other items if they feed well on mice/rats. There have been many instances where once fed a different type of food item they wont switch back to rodents without a lot of hassle (scenting, etc.)

haha i just cant believe your pet store sells Anoles for $10!!!! Ill go on my porch and catch 10 anoles and sell em to u for a buck lol. But onto the question. There is no reason to feed corns anything besides rodents. They live healthy long lives when fed rodents.

From many posts I have read a lot of people feed anoles to hatchlings that refuse pinky mice , but they try to sent the mouse with the anole first ( often a frozen anole). I have tried this myself but it didn't work for me.Small lizzards are the primary diet in the wild for hatchling corns, so I have been told by someone who I consider to be an expert on the subject. At the size that your corn is it seems to be doing fine without them and frozen thawed mice are the choice of most hobbiest.
