Female of unknown origin....if you recognize her, let me know.. dial-up warning

LauraV Jun 07, 2004 01:54 PM

I traded a lot for this female, way more than she is worth, but I had to have her.

She was discovered by a friend at Pets-A-Plenty - The Ultimate Reptile Shop (whooo - what a long name...)at Hwy. 6 & Bellaire in Houston, TX. Her owner no longer wanted her and just gave her to the pet shop. She was called a "cinnamon boa," so I just rolled my eyes and forgot about her. My friend's boyfriend decided to purchase her (they got her for $250), they thought she was a hypo.
Well, needless to say, I didn't want them to get messed over, so went to take a look at it and sex it. She was certainly no co-dom hypo (although perhaps in the sence of reduced black), but nicer than I expected. I did the 'feel' test on her and felt no hemipenes.

At that time I just discovered the Circle Back Ladder Tail I had was a male and not a female, so I sold him. When I saw that she was a CBLT too and appeared pastel as well, I knew I had to have her.

When all is said and done, this little 3' female will have cost me $900-$1200 to aquire her. Has anyone done something as crazy as this? There is no knowledge on her genetics and is most likely het for nothing...but, I saw her and wanted her at any price. Of course, the laugh may really be on me if she is later discovered to be a male....

Three side diamonds smudged together:

If any of you recognize her or if you think you bred her or sold her, please send me a pic of who youthink she is. I would love to know what her genetics are...

I have always been a great fan of these animals... though, I have had terrible luck with them. I bought an animal (female) that was very similar to that one (was said to be an '02) last year at Daytona. She was previously cared for by someone at Ben Cole's (Gainesville,FL) table. He posts in the classifieds... try giving him a shout. It may turn up nothing but, it's worth a shot if you're interested.

Btw, if you are happy with her, then she's worth every penny you spent. Best of luck with her. I have also been known to spend ridiculous (to some) amounts of money on otherwise normal appearing boas

Here's a Barranquilla.

This is the kind of post I was hoping for. I knew she was BCI, that was obvious. I just wanted to try to ferret out who may have owned her in the past or who may have produced her. To me, provided I sexed her correctly as a female, she is worth it. I needed her, I waned her, and I paid stupidly for her. I think her pastel pale pink coloring and light strawberry saddles would produce stunning babies with my Super Hypo male.
Thank you for the tip...even if it leads nowhere, I appreciate the thought.

Always glad to lend a helping hand. I would love to see that combo also... I think a hypo-cblt would be breathtaking. Did you see Chris' litter with the Sunglow Motley? That hypo retaining the Motley pattern is truly awesome. Here's hoping for some look-a-likes soon.

Best of luck,
Ray

I may be mistaking but that looks like one of the Babies I had about 3 years ago. I will go through my Baby pics and see if I can find the one I am talking about for you.
I was living in Gainesville Texas at the time and had a litter of SUPER NICE Babies. Most of them where given away and some of them sold to local petshops. In the clutch I had one Reverse stripe that was Complete Reverse stripe Damion Wyatt in Dallas got that one and I had one that was Zig Zag Stripe with a Nice Laddertail and Joe Rollo (BCIJOE) Got that one. The rest of the litter was all Super animals with Breathtaking colors and all of them had either Reverse Stripe tails or Laddertails.
I will try to find the pics and send one to you.
Contact Bcijoe and he will prob. send you a pic of the Striper I sold him.
Take care
Justin Monroe
