First to shed......new baby pics

Philip Niforatos Jun 07, 2004 05:15 PM

Here are two updated pics of some Bolivian Amarali...only two have shed so far.
From your experience whats the average timeline for first sheds??? I thought that most would have shed by now....

Sorry for the poor quality pics.

Philip: They look very clean. Congrats on the litter! I can't wait to show you pics of my "new" amaralis next week. LOL!!! I thought most boas shed after about 10 days. Talk to you later bud.

I was just wondering how many you ended up with. Good luck with all of them & post some more pics. My female could well explode. Still a month to go though.

As far as the shedding goes, with my B.c.c. & B.c.a. litters they have ranged from 3 weeks to 12 weeks or better. But they generally seem to average about 4 weeks until the skin comes off.

3 mos. to shed? Wow... started the day off w/a lesson. Thanks! Do the Bca feed during this time? Great work and awesome animals Philip. Have a great one, Ray

I believe the litter that took so long was a Suriname litter a couple years ago. The odd thing is half the litter had shed by 4 weeks & the other half decided to take their sweet time. I started feeding them all somewhere around 5 weeks of age & they all ate the first time.

I usually start flipping out when they haven't shed after 3 weeks... Once in a while I get a few that like to take their sweet time... this makes me nervous about over humidify-ing? Then again, I'm a Bci breeder. Something to keep in mind for when I get into producing other Boa ssp.

When are your babies scheduled for? I've always admired the look of your Suris... Hopefully, I can snatch up a few before the top picks are gone. Is there a waiting list? What are you expecting? How do I get ahold of you?

Best regards,
Ray

I'm thinking the Suri's will be in August. I still havn't counted out a due date on any of the gravid females yet. Guess I'd better get on it. Shoot me an I'mail if you'd like at LeeBarrie@comcast.net
