Hi! We've recently aquired 1.3 Amazon Tree Boas and are housing them in a 260 gallon reptarium. It is 2 1/2 feet x 2 1/2 feet by 6 feet tall. We have several bendable branches in it for perches and we will be putting in more, as well as artificial plants, aboreal water dishes etc. soon. Since these reptariums are all screen, obviously they dont hold heat or humidity well and we don't want to partially enclose the sides, so we're just turning the whole house into a jungle to accomidate them.

We are keeping the Reptarium near a heatng vent, but it doesn't blow right into it or anything. (Yes, we've been running the heat sometimes even now, since it's been a bit chilly around here). We are keeping it at about 84-87 degrees during the day, and about 73-76 degrees at night. We are also running a warm air humidifier right near the reptarium 24/7 and misting them twice a day.

My question is, we are going to add heating bulbs, so we can cool off our house, our colubrids and our eggs, at least as much as nature will let us. If we use 2 dome clamp lamps and put 100 watt spot bulbs during the day and 50 watt infared spot bulbs at night and point the at a couple of the perches, say, 1 - 1 1/2 feet from the lamps, will that warm the basking spots up to about 90 degrees? We are wondering if these are the right wattage or not. We'd like to bring the temps in here down to around 74-75 degrees day and night. Would that be ok with these lamps going? Also, I know that infared lamps are hotter than regular lamps... does anyone know the wattage equivalents for infared spot bulbs versus regular spot bulbs?--- Thanks!-- Jennifer
