Hi,
I'm a newbie at this. I've had my crested for less than a month.
(I'll post pics when I can get my hands on a camera)
The Rapashy article is useful, but it doesn't provide any numbers for relative humidity % when measured with a hygrometer.
Here's some pages with different numbers
http://www.reptilespark.com/home/anoleman/careguides.html says
50%-60%
http://www.geckonetwork.com/caresheetcrested.htm
73%-83%
http://www.vmsherp.com/CarePages/CareRhacs.htm
50%-75%
http://www.kingsnake.com/rockymountain/RMHPages/RMHcrested.htm
50%-80%
I don't expect even the experienced keepers to be in agreement with each other, but I'd be curious to know what relative humidity ranges you're running.
Its hard to know how often or how heavily to mist without knowing what the target humidity should be. It would also be good to know what the 'danger zone' would be.

Read my post above. There is no danger zone and there is no "good percentage" to keep them at. People that say there is just don't have a good understanding of humidity requirements of reptiles.

No matter what people will try to tell you, humidity is not critical for Cresteds. Those that say they need 65% or 75% are probably only saying that because that's what they've been told or because that's what the humidity is in New Caledonia. Just because they come from a fairly humid island, that does not mean that they must have that level of humidity to breed well or thrive in captivity.
Crested Geckos are not like Green Tree Pythons or Emerald Tree Boas, where they need humidity to prevent respiratory problems. Even with species that do need higher humidity than we have in our homes, there is no set percentage. Humidity is relative to the temperature of the cage and is not as simple as saying they need to be kept at a certain temperature.
I keep mine at whatever the humidity is in my home (40-50%) and spray them once every evening. This cycle of lower and then higher humidity allows for the cage to dry out completely during the day, which will stop bacteria/fungus from growing and getting to an unhealthy level, which is critical.
