2003 Female Blotched King

RichH Jun 08, 2004 07:58 AM

This is one of four CB 2003 female kings I picked up from Len Krysko in Daytona last season. Three were from his patternless line but this particular one orginated from some WC Sumatra kings. A place I hope to get back to later today or tomorrow for some hiking.

Just to let you know Rich, the WC pair Len has did not come from Sumatra. They came from around Camel Lake. If you need more info just email me.

And where are those pics of the getula you got from the ANF last year?

RichH Jun 08, 2004 12:05 PM

Thanks Sean for the info. I will also e-mail Len the info. you have provided.

Apparently we have had e-mail problems in the past on pics and collection info. E-mail me with any specific questions you have about our previous ANF trips and I'll see if I can dig up some archived info. I have e-mailed to you previously. Much has gone on with kings here in the past year.

There are a couple of us that now make regular juants to the ANF. I personally enjoy camping there and would do it frequently if we lived as close to there as you do.

Would also enjoy communicating with others here that hike and such in NE Florida to boot as well. Starting to get a little herping crew going that meets monthly for getting to some previously decided destination.

I got your emails Rich. No problems there. But you never did send any pics. Why don't you just post them on here? I asked you to post them here on the forums before but you never responded.

Sean, with all due respect I did not know this was all personal. As you recall I never stated I found them but that others did. The only 2 I saw in the wild was one DOR and one I could not get to.

I stated to you in e-mails I have no pics of those particular herps found by others but in my hands for a spell. Actually I have only recently given digital pic taking a serious attempt. I apologize if this does not sit well with you.

Now on the herps I am told one of them is no longer alive as I as well as another could not get it to feed. I returned it to its finder after stating the difficult time I was having and it was stated as such they wanted the herp back. I believe I mentioned all this to you as well and you also agreed with it better off being released. It was my hope it would be returned back to the wild but it was not and I was infomed it perished. I actually could not get either too feed and returned the other back quicker to the other finder as well focusing my time more with CB individuals.

I have e-mailed the other individual as to the outcome of this herp as well and it is my hope it had started feeding in captivaty as many disagree with the returning to the wild of any herp once in captivaty. I was lashed on that as well by 2 others because of the request I made for them to be released.

I have also been informed YET another king has been come upon by one of the previous individuals that found one of the two. This guy though is a hots keeper and does not give much thought to these kings. I mentioned to post here and he unfortunately scoffed at the idea.

Although I have been working with herps for over 30 years I'll keep my focus on CB. I was very disappointed with the outcome of those 2 WC so I tried to not be so public about them since my control of their final destiny was limited.

I hope this clarifies the issue for you and if you would like to discuss this issue in more detail feel free to contact me directly or see me at any of the larger Florida shows. We attend them all so feel free to say hello.

Best Regards, Richard Hebron

Rich, it's not personal. You did state others found them but told me you would send pics. I never received them and never got a response when I requested such here on these forums so I thought I'd let you know. You even stated we had problems with emails when you said you had sent pics so I assumed you sent pics of the one king others had found. My mistake. Now I know you don't have any pics of the one live getula others had found so I won't request to see any. No big deal. I just wanted to see some pictures.

I know the Camel Pond line, but I wouldn't doubt that the other (which he has CB adults of) came from around Sumatra.

Sean Jun 08, 2004 03:13 PM

But we're referring to the pair of WCs he has. And those came from around Camel Lake. The other ones he breeds are CB and I have no idea where they might have descended from. I don't know if Len does either.

RichH Jun 08, 2004 05:50 PM

Yes, I very well could have made a mistake with my notes. I have e-mailed Len for correct info. on what I purchased. I have down as a female Sumatra direct descendant of known WCs. That could mean many things as well as a misunderstanding on my behalf. With my haste using shorthand (as well as discussing kingsnakes with one hand wrapped around a drink while on the hotel deck in Daytona last August) looks as if one way or another I was not clear enough.

I will most certainly update this thread with Len's response as not to further confuse or misrepresent any breeder's line of herps to others.

Oh, have you been getting outdoors much this season?

Here is another occupant of this area. Although not a Kingsnake could very well be another natural source of food for them....
