Intreasted in Cresties and have a few questions (Long).....................

Leo_6055 Jun 18, 2003 09:04 PM

Hi, I have been reading up on crested gecko and reading the forum and from what i have read they are the perfect new addition to my gecko family. I already have 7 leopard geckos and many eggs cooking and have keept anoles in the past. So i am very familiar with reptile care and especially gecko care but upon reading they seem to be TOTALLY diffrent than leo's. I have a general idea about keeping them from reading tons on them (I reaserched my leo's 6 months before getting them and still learning more about them!) that they are arboreal and require a tank higher than longer. I have a 10 gallon tank and a 20 gallon long (29 gallon) and i have read that these are goo for 1 crestie. But i have a question, If i house a crestie in a 20L than should i turn it vertically or leave it horizontal? Either way is fine. And also what substrate should i use? I have read that bed-a-beast works good but also read that paper towel is really beast. I keep my leo's on paper towel w/ bed-a-beast as a laying substrate so i am familiar with both. Also i have read that they are okay for handling but i want to be sure. i like to be personal with an animal and have a relationship so if i can't hold them/they don't enjoy being held than i would like to know so i can take that into consideration.

thanks for all of your help and I just want to let everyone know that i want to find out as MUCH as i can about them before even cosidering trying to get one so ANY and ALL info from personal experiance is welcome.
