Thank you Kingsnake forum..one more question

Thank you everyone for your help! I have decided to get a Jackson's chameleon and am very excited. I went to a different pet store today..they have 2 pairs of Jackson's chameleons. They are the Meru variety, I was told. Anyways, when I went to look at the chams, they had each pair(male and female) housed in their own enclosure. I would love to buy a pair but I had read on the internet that they should be housed alone, by themselves. So once again, I ask the experts here for some advice
Can I keep the pair together (like they are now, in the pet store) or do they have to be housed seperately?

Thanks again for your advice,
Stacey

if you want to have them both they should be kept in seperate cages and only be put together in order to mate.
they should not be capable of seeing each other.

myth no. 3 in the recent chameleonnews article shows a pro's oppinion

Again, a pro may have the luxury of catching the very earliest sign of social stress in chams housed together and can separate them easily to other cages. For your first chams play it safe and house them separately. They will be less stressed, won't pass anything infectious between them, and won't compete for food, the best basking and hiding spots. Generally chams are solitary and don't want anyone sharing their limited captive space.
