Shedding problem!

gexy Jun 08, 2004 05:04 PM

My saharan uro is having a lot of trouble shedding. She has had the whitening skin like it's going to slough for at least 2 weeks but it's not loosening at all on her back or tail. Any suggestions to help her?

Thanks in advance!

You could give it a bath and keep it as hydrated as possible.I am not sure if a shedding product would help.I am not sure if thats for partial sheds or what not.

Two weeks isn't really that long for a uro. They seem to take forever to shed. You can provide a more humid hide for her to hang out in. I use a rubbermaid tub with a tube for an entrance tunnel filled with slightly moist soil. Both Saharans have shed well with this. Someone also suggested attaching maxipads to the underside of the lid and keeping them moist. That seemed like an excellent way to create humidity without exposing the uros to wetness, though I haven't actually put it into practice.

They are also cranky and uncomfortable when shedding, so avoid bothering them if you can.
