Yet Another Lost Snake Post

Hello Everyone.

My wonderful, adorable, apple of my eye, brilliant child let the snake loose on the chaise when my back was turned and, of course, the snake found the nearest crevice and disappeared. My husband and I have tried our best to figure out a way to diassemble the chaise without permanent damage and have not found one, yet. So, how do I lure the snake out? Right now I have a live fuzzy sitting in a shallow dish on the chaise, hoping the smell might lure him out, because he is on day 9 without food now and day 3 in the chaise. I think he is actually in the stuffing on the armrest side, but I don't know for sure because I can't watch it constantly.

Anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks

I would bring the chair to a room where it could be isolated, a screened porch works well as long as there are no cracks for the snake to escape through. Put the chair out there and place the fuzzy mouse in the dish near the chair. Next to the mouse put a small hide box, one that the snake will go into and tight enough to feel secure in it. Damp moss, like a nest box works well, the odor will interest the snake and the damp dark spot will make it feel secure.
Hopefully in a day or so the snake will come out to eat the mouse and go back into the hide box instead of the chair. You can also try flushing the snake out with rubbing alcohol. DO NOT put the alcohol onto the snake but, put it on cotton balls and place them in the area you think the snake is hiding. The fumes/odor of the alcohol will irritate the snake. Same principle the rattle snake handlers use for the rattlesnakes, just not using gasoline.
I hope this helps some.
Good Luck

if the chair can be contained in a snake proof area where you can wait him out, just check the area just after dark with as little light as possible and peek around. He will eventually be on the prowl. If temps are to their liking, they move mostly from just before dusk to an hour or two after dark.

I'm not sure if this will work, but someone told me that loud bass music (the type that vibrates your bones) will bring snakes out of hiding. You also might try scattering a few cozy hides around in the hopes the snake chooses one of them over his current hide in the chair. Put a dish of water out too.
Good Luck

Hello Everyone.

Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since my little friend has been fed. Still no sign of him inside, or outside, the chaise. Can a snake not be able to find his way out of stuffing in a sofa? For those of you that don't know, a chaise is like a couch with a partial back and just one arm. Kind of a chair and sofa mix--one of those couches that psychologists stereotypically have in their offices. I tried the mouse, the water, and even the deep bass music. Still no sign....
