I disagree. CB balls can be great. All of mine love to be handled and only refuse a meal during shed.

with a hatchling........

Give it time......JY's right...you'll see

reptileguy0407 Jun 08, 2004 09:47 PM

Not quite. Been keeping balls for almost 20yrs. My cb male Iv'e had for 9yrs. my female almost 4yrs. now never had a problem, same with other cbs over the years. The wc are a different story.

I've had CB animals go off food for months at a time....you just have good luck and snakes that want to eat....I've got a few of those too......

Cause the only difference between my imports and my cb was the price tag..........they're all moody....eat when/what they want.........a real pain in the @$$, but gotta love 'em

jyohe Jun 09, 2004 07:39 PM

are different.....they look different.....eat different..

and yes...they'll all stop and be a pain soon.....

I have alot of captives that never left my room....and they all could make me mad if I cared to..

I ignore them ...even for months....they will eat when they want...

and when they do..I feed alot...large mice,hamsters,peromyscus,gerbilsmrats,etc...and at times...3 or 4 times a week..........whenever I have a bucket with adults to be killed off........

right now they are almost all pounding......

I agree with reptileguy, my BPs have never even rejected a feeding, not even my gravid females which I know isn't safe, but I just have to leave that up to the snake, it's her parenting skills, oh, and I've never lost an egg doing this.

As for corn snakes, I probably have bad luck with. So far all of the hatchlings I've obtained either rejected food or ended up regurgitating it, even in proper temperatures with the proper sized food.

But when it comes to tameability between the two, I would have to say they are equal. I've never been bitten by either species, however, I have been struck at by an adult, mistreated, bad tempered, female, wild caught Ball Python that was dumped on me by someone who never cared for it properly. I think I've never been bitten by a Corn snake because they've never gotten big enough to realize they could even bite.

After all this I would agree with reptileguy on a Captive Bred, baby Ball Python over a baby corn.

However, they can be successfully cared for as long as you are willing to do some research, learn and be patient. Personally, I think corns are much easier to care for but I think they aren't as enjoyable as BPs.
