Whats going on????????????????

Jbuggs20 Jun 08, 2004 07:13 PM

Ok I thought my 2 girls were finished laying for the year.... Its been 45days since i had got eggs from either of my 2 breeder females.. 5mins ago I go in to check thier water and some how some reason one of my females i dont know which one even layed eggs in the water dish!!! This has happened before but there was just a tiny bit of water in the bowl at the time and the eggs soaked up the remaining water and everything is fine with the eggs..This time the water dish was full.. So when i came in there i had 2 eggs sittin in the bottom of the water dish totally submerged.. They are way softer and more delicate then the other eggs. Whats the chance these eggs are good? They were pretty soft it couldnt have been in the water for more then a hour or 2 I had just left the room... I already have eggs incubating so I just put these 2 in the incubator.. Anyone have anything like this happen before?????

One of my females keeps doing the same thing. As a matter of fact, their water dish is in the incubator right now...one of the 2 eggs was stuck to the dish. I decided to put in the perlite/water & incubate the dish & all. I now use a smaller water dish in hopes that this will discourage her from laying eggs in there. The other girls are very good about using their laying boxes, it's just the one.

It's possible that they will be just fine, especially if you caught them quickly. I've also had a few females lay around the 45 day mark, it sure seems like a really long time though. I'd go ahead and incubate them anyway, can't hurt anything to see if they'll hatch. Let us know how they turn out.
