Differences between the Indian and Sri Lankan Star

cod6545 Jun 08, 2004 10:16 PM

Hey guys! Are there any set differences between Indian Star and Sri Lankan Stars? I?ve heard the Sri Lankans generally have wider bands on their shell. This may be true, but I?ve seen some thick banded Indians and some thin banded Sri Lankans. Are their shell markings different? Could it be the number of bands in each scute? Could the plastron patterns be different? I appreciate your help. Thanks! Brooks

In my humble opinion. I don't think you can tell them apart. The only true way is to know your source. unless you can trace it back to the orginal Sri Lankins imported it's a toss up. I'm sure their are others on this forum who might disagree or could give you more insight.

same thought here except i thought i saw Dr.Zovick's comments somewhere in the photo gallery which he guaranteed you a PAINLESS experience to go about... i guess it wouldn't hurts...but watch your arms and legs during the operation...it's only common sense! (LOL)
