Yellow Bellies...

JohnZ Jun 08, 2004 10:18 PM

I guess i am lost on this. I see them being offered for like $15,000 and can't figure out why.

I looked at my Balls the other day when weighing them(monthly) and see that 2 of my females(normals) have yellow bellies. I bought them 1 1/2 years ago as normal female holdbacks for like $75 to $100 each(weighing in at like 150 grams each). Now both of the females are like 1400 and 1500 grams.

I looked at them real good and they look like(the bellies) the ones i see photos of selling for $15,000 each.

Could i have gotten them before people knew what they were? When did breeders know what they were? Whatever, i know without a dought they have like really yellow bellies. Thanks...

John

Seems like you would be taking a hell of a chance spending 15K for a snake that is not proven. Just because two animals produced Ivory does not mean two different animals with the same belly markings will. Who the hell would buy a 15K snake without it ever being proven??

Good luck with your two.

Who the hell would pay 15K on an unproven het?

I do agree, but as i said, seems like this Yellow Belly is becoming important and costing a ton. My question is, reguardless if its proven or not or if it will produce, did people not know of them back 1 1/2 years ago and i could have something more than a normal?

I don't see what Yellow Bellies have to do with white, but seems like that's what people are talking about. Get Yellow Bellies and make White Balls.

When did breeders figure this out and could i have gotten them when they were not known? Thanks... John

PS- I would not pay $15,000 for any Ball, plain and simple. Too big of a risk for a chance in it dying, not producing, or just plain market drying up.

They knew about them then, but I'm sure a lot of Balls with yellow bellies slip through greedy peoples hands and end up selling for realistic prices.
