mealworm--->superworm conversion

ericchen Jun 08, 2004 11:25 PM

well..recently i changed from feeding mealies to feeding supers cuz a friend of mine has an excess and is giving me free supers of all sizes...i got a buncha baby supers from him that were the size of mealies i fed to my blizzies...however since supers are much more adept in the art of escaping..i had to change from a clear petri dish to a red ceramic dish that is higher as well...its been two days and they haven't touched the supers...any ideas?

I noticed that when I put a water dish in the corner of the cage, my Leos would climb all over it, and eventually have to look down to see what's there. Same thing applied when I went to higher food dishes, left it in the middle for a while and no one would touch it, but it in the corner and they're all over it. I have no idea why, but I think it might just be easier for them to climb up using the side of the enclosure for support. Hope that helps.

Well..thats really good advice however i'm sure my geckos see the dish and whatevers inside since they have to venture to the other side of the small tub from the rack *yah i need to get them bigger tubs*...they always walk over it which means they must see something there....but i guess the corner thing might work since they do always venture to the corners for some odd reason..thanks!

I toss the super worms in front of them so they can see them crawl. I keep doing this until they go after them. Sometimes it takes awhile but keep trying. It worked for me.

You can try adding a little supplement to the dish, so your leo can hear the supers moving around. It works for me.
