Need ID on turtle-South Africa

I do snake rescue, but was called to rescue a little tirtle at a building site in Cape Town.
I THINK it is a type of African Mud turtle- it is about the diameter of a soup spoon, has a fairly long neck, is brown with white edging around its carapace.
Anyone have any idea what it could be, and any advice on husbandry (especially food !!) would be greatly appreciated.
