hello everyone,i have a jackson and i had him since october and he seemed to be doing great.i mist him 3 times a day have a dripper on most of the day and he eats regularly, crickets supers, mealworms silkies and beetles. his temps are usually 75-85 and night time is 65.his cage is alittle small and i am in the process of building him one now.anyway this morning i woke up to spray him and he was towards the bottom green with black specs and diamonds.his eyes are very alert but not doing much moving.this week we are in a heat wave and i have been having trouble keeping his temp down.i also take him outside and he basks in the sun a few days a week.the only thing i can think of is the temp.please help very worried.matt

The colors you are seeing are signs of extreme stress, but not necessarily from overheating. Are there any new animals around that he can see? Maybe he's hiding. An overheated jax will tend to look pale, not dark. But, your temps are a bit warm for jax. You may have to get a small AC unit for that room. Look for the little desktop coolers for offices. If you don't get the temps down especially at night you may lose him, so get ready to do this. Look for small AC units at 2nd hand stores, garage sales, etc. Is there a cooler room in your house? The only thing about AC is it will tend to dry out the air, so be ready to mist more. Another temporary idea is to get blue ice freezer packs and put them on the cage at night with a small fan blowing on them. It might drop the temp enough. Rotate and refreeze the packs daily.

there was a discussion recently on chams reacting to clothing color. Some of us had stories of our cham acting freaked out or just stressed. Luna got all puffy and pissy when I wore my big fleece dark green bathrobe or any of my dark/bright colored sweaters or long sleeves shirts. I have no idea if this is part of your cham's stress but worth checking out. Also remember now that you have moved him to the basement (change) he may be a bit stressed from that, too. but my guess is it was probably the dog if your cham was able to see him.
