Is there any kind of python for me?

Nei_Kai Jun 09, 2004 01:49 PM

I am really interested in getting a python, but I am running out of room, considering I have an adult beardie and a russian tortoise already in my room, plus another 20 gallon for my corn snake. I have a 20 gallon open and I want not a big snake like a long snake(retic)just one that gets well thicker...I have considered the Kenyan Sand Boa, but I am not fond of how they hide a lot, and seem like they would bite you if you handle them...I want some kind of python that can live happily in a 20 long....Is there anything like this? Or is this just a far out dream?

Most male balls top out at around 3 feet and are fairly heavy bodied. Get a captive bred animal as they feed better.

Lets see.. You could get a Spotted or a Childrens python(3-4ft), ball python(4-5ft), rosy boa(2-3ft), sand boa(1.5-3ft), an Irian Jaya carpet python(5ft, would need like a 29gallon or a tub), Savu python(esp a male, stay like 4-5ft).. Theres a bunch of options out there, just do a bunch of research, look stuff up, see what you like..

Oh most male bp's get only to about 3ft huh? Tell that to my male bp. He' is about 5ft, and around 3yrs old.

If you want something that can live in a 20 gal it's entire life try a sand boa, even rosy boas, just take a look around at what is out there. Try maybe small lizards, leopard geckos, anoles, crested geckos, etc...etc...

yes most.. Most means "not all".. :P there ARE exceptions to every rule.. I've met several 5ft male ball pythons, but there are far more 3-4 footers out there...
