Ozarks ? Missouri ? What area ? What are you looking for ? Very good for turtle species. If the temps get to where they are predicting, might be hard to go out and find some species of snakes and lizards during the day and hunting the big MO. is encrusted with those little varmits called TICKS this time of year( and big mosquitos ).

Yes, Missouri. Well I think I am staying at a condo on one of the lakes. So I think the area where we are going is called the Lakes of the Ozarks? Turtles were mainly what I was looking for so maybe I will have some luck! Have you ever been to the lakes? Are they nice? Possible snorkling for turtles?
Thanks,
Chris

I spent the better of 9 years seasonal around the Lake Taneycomo ( Branson , Rockaway, etc ) and the other Ozark area of what they call the Lake of the Ozarks which includes Bagnell Dam, Gravois Mills, etc. Depending on species of turtles, I had very good luck on the shallow streams by just walking them. These were mostly small attributaries( < spelled ? )coming from parts of the main lakes. The other method was like I think you have in mind by just small boating around the edges of the lake/s body.

Good luck

You got me all excited now! Yeah I think the lake we are staying on is Table Rock Lake. It claims that its a great place to fish so im sure I will be doing a lot of that also.
Thanks for you help,
Chris

It says that the water is "crystal clear". Every other place I have been to that claimed that the water was crystal clear, wasn't. Is it really?
Thanks again,
Chris

especially around the north end of Table Rock around the Dam and over at Rock-a-way beach plus Forsyth. Only draw back is some of these waters are COLD due to being trout areas. That is why i was talking shallow waters away from the lakes where the water has time to warm going a distance. I remember some of those streams almost being like MAGNIFIERS seeing the soft-shell turtles swimming back and forth as we walked them. Someday i will have to revist those areas. When you get back post what you see.

From the pictures of my condo I have seen on the internet, it almost looks like an ocean with sand beaches and everything. Are there turtles on the beaches? Also, is ir real crowded (as in people)? I will be sure to post pics. I get back next Saturday so I will try to post some on Sunday.
