Hey All!I have had a redtail in my collection for the past 7 months I purchased her as a him for my large female,But he turned out to be a her!lol,I didnt mind because she is supposed to be a genetic striper!Their was a post on down in the forum about jungle boa's,That not too many people responded too!My family has had a really ruff time here latley an I have had to sell 3 of my redtails, already but as soon as everything is straitened out I can get more!I know I got lucky on this female for I only got 350.00 tied up in her cost alone! The more I have read up on jungles the more I feel this is what she is!She has a connectting head stripe with only 7 saddles, then she has 2 blocky saddles with holes or circles in them, then astripe clear down into her tail saddles an this stripe starts blocked off with a hole in it,from what I have learned this isnt genetic striped its jungle,am I right? She is buckskined in color with pink from her cheecks clear down her sides an some speckling,I understand that without seeing pic's it's really hard to give me any information on these questions!Shes going on 6 ft long an will be ready to breed next september!I f she is a jungle boa what would she be worth?I am trying to get access to a digital camera to post pics very soon! Thanks for any help anyone can give on these questions! Thanks Charles![HYPOBOA]

Jungle is a co-dominant genetic...that means if you breed a jungle to a normal 50% of the litter should be jungle. Jungles are very expensive, 2000-3000.00 and up. It doesn't seem likely that someone would accidently sell you a female that cheap.

It sounds like a very nice abberant boa though.

Good luck, Chris

Thanks For your reply Chris!I just wish I had some way of posting pics of her!I just felt that with the pics of aberents an the pics of jungles,I am no proffesional like you,But I thought I may have got lucky! An yea where I live these pet stores dont care or know what they got!!!I came across her an thought I was getting a steal an like I said she was supposed to be a he!She was very sick not with a respitory infection, but was dehydrated,BAD,VERY BAD!A keeper at the nashville zoo helped me out with the problem, vets here were not knowledgable enough to tell what was wrong with her either! She was so bad that she had a gash from her throat to her cloa, like I said she was bad!She has full sheds now on her own an eats medium/large prekilled like a champ now !So it may be possible, the keeper wouldnt help or remburse me anything either! An he knew, the keeper said it took her a long time to get that way it wasnt somthing that just happened!I will post pics soon to be able to find out more whats a close to breedable abberant worth? Thanks Charles[Hypoboa]

I will almost guarantee you that she is not a jungle. There are still very few jungles available each year, and the people who spend over $5,000 for a boa aren't going to just give it up to a pet store if it gets sick. This is why there are so many arguments about what a jungle is. Many people have been advertising farmed aberrant babies as jungle/aberrant boas. This is very deceiving because what makes a true "jungle" boa is that when you breed it to another jungle, you will get super jungles that are very distinctly different. If he/she didn't come from Pete Kahl, J. Stone, M. Weitzman, or a few other people, then I don't think you have a true jungle.

Now about the genetic stripe thing. If it is Pete Kahl's line of genetic striping, what you have is very possible. The stripe gene presents itself anywhere from 20% - 100% striping. Some have multiple different small stripes and some have a single long stripe. When only two saddles form a stripe, it can make it look somewhat like a jungle.

You should be happy with what you got either way. You asked about price, so here you go. An adult female Kahl line stripe would be worth about $800 - $1000 and an adult female jungle would be worth $10000 - $15000 if I had to guess.

BTW, the Kahl line genetic stripe is a recessive trait and the jungle is a dominant trait.

I would have to second this opinion. Jungles come from a specific line of snakes. Unless this snake originated from the original line (produced by a guy in Germany, I believe, somewhere in Europe at any rate), it is not a jungle. There are a lot of jungle-looking abberant boas out there that are not jungles. It sounds like you got a nice abberant boa that you paid way too much for given its condition - most abberant boas I've seen lately run $300-$600 for a healthy juvenile depending on the amount of abberant patterning. If she was in the condition you described, she was WAY overpriced. Enjoy her for what she is, an abberantly patterned boa. If you can find a way though, I'd love to see a picture of her.

The true Jungles were actually produced by a breeder in Sweden (not Germany as I was misremembering).

I just wanted to thank everyone with their help with this matter!Sorry if I started an arguement about jungles again that was not my intentions,I just was wandering? She is an awsome snake,I really don't understand why she was givin the life she had before I got her,we spent alot of hours in the bath tub with her to get her well!I saved her life an all be danged if she still hasnt nailed me twice, lol,That hurts when they get bigger dont it,smiles! An she is worth all the time that I have put into her an the 2 bites that were my own dumbness!I do have a question though,She eats like a champ now an sheds on her own but she still has that gash partley down her body now!Its went away from mid ways clear down her tail but still their in the front part! Will this always be their?Well once again thanks to everyone 4 the info!Charles![HYPOBOA]
