Blood Boa Babies born today!! Hopefully I remember how to post pics...

Amanda_Burke Jun 09, 2004 07:26 PM

I am very excited about these because I just love the Blood Boas! We did the same het to het breeding as last year and this year our girl gave us 22 beautiful babies. It looks like 4 bloods, and there are some other weird ones in the litter that are very hypo-ish. It's weird because we didn't have any like them in last years litter, but there are some with extremely reduced black that really stand out from the normal 66% hets. I can't wait til they shed!

You can see the difference between the different types in this picture...There is a blood, a normal 66% het, and part of a hypo-ish looking 66% het in the bottom right. I'll be interested to see what they look like after a shed!

There are some with nice striping and abberancies...

Thanks for looking!

Those bloods look great. The variation you are seeing in the color is very interesting. The striping is also interesting. It is unclear what the bloods will ultimatley produce as we have seen the pewters and extensive striping in the bloods so far. It will be very interesting to see how those lighter ones turn out. I firmly believe that by line breeding we will be able to produce bloods that stay brightly colored as adults. Certainly like you I can't wait to see the blood with other morphs and look forward to your T blood albinos and sunglows in the future. Congratulations again.

I agree with you Bill...with selective breeding, Blood Boas will undoubtedly get better and better as the generations go on. There is no end to the possibilities with them...I even love the look of the hets! The hypo bloods that you guys produced are by far some of the nicest boas out there, and it's so exciting to see the possibilities becoming a reality!

Amanda

A couple of the 66% we got from you last year have that hypo look. They change color constantly, and one even has some red to her. One had orange on her belly for a while then it went away. Keep an eye on those, they will only get better looking.
Congrats,
Stephen
