Has anyone seen this before?

vanth Jun 09, 2004 07:57 PM

here is one of my two day old normal babies and hes got little white spots all down his back. Some of his clutch mates have what people call 'bullseyes' but i don’t think I’ve seen speckling like this before. I've heard of stripping being the result of stress on the embryo but these babies were incubated in very steady temps. Any ideas? do you think it's stress, genetics or...?
thanks

A white stripe polkadotted granite Ball! Should be able to get at least $1,000,000.00 on KS classifieds for that beauty...LOL.

Never seen it before, and it is a cool looking snake.

Good luck,
Chad

but not in BP's!!! I hatched a 3 egg clutch of Calabars and 1 came out very much like that (more white scales)!!! Looked VERY normal after first shed!! I'd be very interested in seeing it after it's first shed!!!! Cool stuff!!! ERIC

It may be undeveloped pigmentation that in a shed or so should come into the scales? I've seen them have some light almost white spots at times....it usually goes away though.....

Like pythonregis said the scales might fall after the first shed. Or maybe you do have a million dollar genetic ball. Hope for either.

Last year I had it on 8 ch. It went away with first shed, kinda freaked me out too.

but it looks to me like it may have something to do with its spine.

Maybe pressure from the spine, pushing against the side of the egg, caused pigment to not develop in these "pressure" areas?

I could be way off, but considering how uniform an evenly spaced they are, and how their distancing seems to me to be close to what the spacing of the vertebra would be, that would be my guess.---something spine related.
