Something you normally do not see with these guys...

My stupid cat snuck into my snake room as I went down the hall to check on something. The end result was me hearing a very loud hissing, from down the hall I remind you, and walking into the snake room to see this. My cat crawled on top of his cage and ran out of the room when I got in there. His body was so inflated, 3 times his normal size! Man did he gape at me! He was probally striking at the screen lid. After a few hours he calmed down to his normal self.

I have never seen him do anything like this, and it was pretty cool. It will never happen again though. No cats in the snake room.

My Taiwan is pretty used to the cats (they used to sleep in the window above his cage), but I always throw them out of the room during feeding or cage cleaning to minimize distractions. Occasionally, he'll get startled by someone moving around his cage, and I'll see him puff up and get all "essey". Haven't seen him gape other than at food in years though. Last night while feeding, he got pretty excited and started rattling his tail trying to find his frozen/thawed rat. They definitely have some "personality"! He's my favorite display snake because he's so interactive. I think he watches me as much as I watch him.

Mine looks at me like this every time I get near her. She's only bit me once, and it was earlier this week. She saw a tank of live mice and went crazy ( she's only seen thawed frozen ) pounding her head against the glass to get to them. We I went to pick her up she latched on to my arm but let go as soon as she realized I wasn't a rodent. Live and learn. They sure are an interesting animal.
