Worrying Dad / Lavender Albino Brooks King

RussBates Jun 10, 2004 07:22 AM

I know I shouldn't worry but I can't help it. I've got an high red lavender albino that I paid a butt load of $$ for and she is getting ready to lay about 10-12 eggs. I'm pretty sure she did her pre egg laying shed on the 26th of May ( I may be off by a day either way). Well she is in and out of her nest box and I'm starting to get real uneasy.

What's the longest you've had a snake go between shedding and laying? I've had a corn go almost 3 weeks before but don't have any experience w/ Brooks.

Yes that is a massage tool in the box, thought she might use it to crawl through and help move the eggs down. I have no experience w/ egg binding and don't know what it looks like. Does anyone have pictures?

Thanks,
Russ

14 days after shed is about normal but it can go even a couple of days over that.

My female Brooks went almost 3 weeks before depositing her clutch. She layed 12 eggs, all good, and they are hatching as I key this. This was my first attempt at breeding snakes ever and I was anxious also. When she began to lay it took about 1/2 between each egg appearing. One thing I would check is that your female has a box that is large enough for her. I covered her box and cut a round hole in the top. When she gets ready to lay she will disappear to the bottom of the box and not come out. My Juliet was restless for two weeks before she layed. In and out of the box. Quite nerve wracking for sure. Good luck.
